A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Aero

2.5 years old / male

Aero is a very handsome, standard/large male who is about 2-3 years old. He is healthy, happy, and a very easy going dog. Aero would love to be a house-dog and can be left alone if needed. He's quiet in the house and in his crate, calm, and generally easy to live with. He would be fine as the only dog in the family or paired with a stronger female dog; not cats for this boy. Aero likes other dogs and loves to play so much that his play style can be viewed as a bit strong but still appropriate; he's played very well with larger female dogs. This boy rides well in the car, is easy to handle, and is a gentle soul.

AlexaAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Alexa

4 months old / female

Alexa is happy black and tan female German Shepherd puppy who's about 16 weeks old. Her mother was a purebred German Shepherd but the father is unknown so she could have something else mixed in. Alexa is confident, active and playful. She loves people and gets along well with medium to large size dogs. Alexa has enough prey drive that small animals will not be a good match. Alexa is learning some basic obedience and is smart and food motivated. She loves to play fetch and play with her four legged foster brothers. She is in her mouthy stage so will not be suitable for a family with children under 15 years old.

Puppies require owners who are home enough, and have the time, energy, strength, and patience to guide the puppy through it's chewing, digging, and mouthing stages (which can last until they are 2-3 years old), and who will provide regular exercise, socialization and training so the puppy will grow up to be a mannerly adult dog. All puppies bark incessantly, dig, and destroy things if they are left alone for long periods of time, and thus, need to be with owners who do not leave them alone for long hours. Priority will be given to families with experience raising German Shepherd Dog or similar puppies.

AmandiAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Amandi

1 year old / female

Amandi is an affectionate black and tan female German Shepherd who is about a year old. Her personality has many puppy-like traits. She loves to be with people but is not needy and she likes meeting strangers. Prior to coming into Rescue she had little-to-no formal training but she is a smart dog who learns rapidly. She is treat and praise motivated and learns best with those methods. She is learning her basic obedience and, like all GSDs her age, requires regular socialization to new places and things along with training so she can grow up to be a mannerly adult dog. Amandi takes treats gently and is easy to handle. She walks well on leash and likes to go on walks. She is house trained and knows how to use a dog door. Amandi is crate trained and also sleeps free on her dog bed through the night without needing to go out. She is learning to go on car rides and is great even on curvy mountain roads. Amandi is generally quiet but has a good alarm bark.

This playful girl loves many types of toys and includes children’s toys, shoes and socks in that category. Amandi loves playing with compatible dogs after a slower introduction. She has a typical German Shepherd rough and tumble play style. She likes to chase squirrels so probably won’t be good with cats. Amandi is learning to share toys and attention with other dogs. While she is coming along well she requires owners experienced with the breed. She can be slightly bossy about having her person’s attention so if she is to have a new dog friend it should be a dog that is okay with that. This beautiful girl will be a wonderful addition to her new home.

2 years old / female

Amethyst is a calm, black and tan female German Shepherd who is about 2 years old. She has a short coat, and is soft natured. She is housebroken, crate trained, knows basic commands, is good on a leash, and easy to walk. "Ammy" is fine around other dogs but gets annoyed with dogs who want to jump on her or push her around so we suspect she would prefer to be an only dog. She does have a good alarm bark. No cats for Ammy and she will chase squirrels out of your yard. Ammy is a super sweet girl who loves people and is very easy to live with!

Ammy and her tricks, Ammy's Recall

Ammy is a pretty black and tan female German Shepherd Dog who is about 3 years old. She is of the bigger bodied, longer legged American show lines type. Ammy is smart, affectionate and playful. She is a real companion dog. Ammy loves to look into your eyes and figure out what you are saying and communicate back to you. She loves to learn new things and really thrives on a connection with her person.

Ammy is comfortable being inside or outside the house. She did not get much formal training previously, but has been with a professional trainer for a few weeks and is well on her way to learning basic obedience, sit, down, come and also to walk well on a leash, as you can see on her video. Her prior owner trained her to shake either paw, wave, roll over and crawl. She is crate trained and house trained and likes to ride in the car. Ammy loves to play ball, play in the water, go on walks and hang out with the family. She is good around other dogs on leash but will chase cats. In the home she likes calm, large male dogs the best, she considers small dogs pests. Because she is large and has pretty good drive to get her ball or other toys she would do best with teenagers or above. Ammy will be a loving companion to her new lucky family.

AragornAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Aragorn

3 months old / male

Aragorn is a male puppy, about 12 weeks old. He and his sister, Arwen, were found as "strays." SCGSR brought them into foster-care and they are healthy, active, wonderful puppies. Both are outgoing, happy, and exuberant puppies. They are eating well, have learned about crate training, and have a great start in life, thanks to their foster home. We LOVE to see puppies that are active and energetic as they are much more likely to be healthy, well-balanced dogs.

Like all puppies, be sure you are ready for all that puppies need, such as lots of time devoted to developing their personalities and manners. Puppies need lots of social time with people and other safe dogs. Like humans, without a good start and lots of attention and exercise, they can develop poor habits. All puppies chew and dig for the first year of life...it is part of growing and what puppies do! Please be sure you are ready for a puppy before adopting any puppy....they are very rewarding and also a lot of work and time and patience.

Video

Arrow (aka Freedom) is a sweet and sincere sable female German Shepherd who is about 2.5 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. She had a rough start in life and was mostly left with her dog friend in the back yard so wants to have a compatible dog friend in her new home. Arrow has been good with many types of dogs although pushy dogs would overwhelm her. She and the resident cat like to sleep together. She is on the shy side so can get scared if strangers reach for her quickly. Once she gets to know you she asks for chin scratches, she loves getting brushed, and will give face kisses when she's feeling playful. She is crate trained, house trained, walks well on a leash, and once she knows the new routine she has been fine left loose in the house. Arrow has a lot of love to give for owners who have some patience for her to adjust to the new circumstances of her life.

AsterAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Aster

18 months old / female

Aster is a cute black and silver female German Shepherd mix who is about 18 months old. She almost didn't make it out of the shelter since she is not a purebred GSD, but she was brought out to the dog yard in order to help test another dog's play style. And that is when she captured her rescuer's heart. She is the kindest pup who just wants to sit by your feet and get attention. She's goofy and calm and very smart. She loves dogs and people. We don't know how she is around cats but her ears perk up quite a bit when a cat meows on the tv. She rides great in the car and settles down nicely in the house. She is left alone in the yard for 10 hours a day without any problems. She has learned how to sit and walk on a leash very quickly. Be warned, once you meet this girl, you won't be able to leave her behind.

AthenaAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Athena

3 years old / female

Athena is beautiful dark sable female German Shepherd who is about 3 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. She is a laid back kind of girl who must have been a loved pet at one time as she has great house manners, knows how to sit and shake and is learning stay and down. She is crate trained and knows how to use a dog door. She loves to go on walks and for rides in the car. Reserved at first, once she knows her family she is sweetly confident and affectionate. This lovable girl is all about being with her people. She is happiest when she is in the same place as her person and readily settles down where ever her person is. She loves to meet people and greets them with tail wags. She can take treats a little roughly so older kids are probably best. Athena will thrive in a home where someone is home most of the time but is ok being left inside as well. Athena takes a little longer to get comfortable around other dogs. She quickly grew to love her foster brother and has met with several other dogs well but is more a hang out than roughhouse type of girl. Being on the mellow side, she can do well in a condo-type situation as long as she gets regular exercise and isn’t left along long hours each days. If you’re looking for a great girl who will make you feel special every day then Athena may be just the girl for you.

She prefers to be with a compatible dog. Autumn rides well in the car, is kennel trained and is learning some basic obedience. She likes to go out and about and has good leash manners. She would be overwhelmed in too chaotic of a home so would be best in an adult home. She is still quite a puppy and will need continued training and leadership so she learns how to grow up to be a mannerly adult dog. Her new owners will get to see her blossom into the wonderful dog she was meant to be.

BeauAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Beau

1 year old / male

Beau is a 1 year old neutered male who was surrendered when his owners had to move into an apartment. He is a happy and energetic puppy who knows some obedience but will require continued training and exercise to make sure he remains a good doggie citizen. He loves to play with other dogs but doesn’t read social cues well so he won’t understand when another dog doesn’t like him. He lives with cats but does like to chase them if they run. When he catches them he likes to bop them on the head with his big paw. Because of this, Beau would do best in a home without cats or delicate, small breed dogs. He loves people but is so high energy that a home with kids over the age of 10 would be best. He is also kennel trained and rides well in the car.

I’m Casey, a black male German Shepherd puppy who is about 9 months old. The shelter called my rescuer to tell them how good I was so she came in to see me. And she agreed. So that’s how I ended up in rescue. I am happy, friendly and playful. I have already lived an exciting life and have an old femoral fracture (upper thigh) that is already all healed up with all the great care I have been getting. I love people. And I have been doing great with all four of my four legged foster siblings. They love to play with me, and I love to play with them too. Somebody is going to be lucky to get my love. Are you going to be the one?

Charlie

2.5 years old / male

Charlie is a super sweet 2.5 years old, x-large bicolor male German Shepherd mix. We are not sure what other breed he's mixed with but his family could not keep him due to family changes. Charlie has lived with several Chihuahuas and farm animals without difficulty. He's housebroken, outgoing, playful, healthy, has not shown any interest in jumping fences nor tendencies to dig. He's very social and family oriented so it's no surprise that this boy would do best in a home where he can be a house dog and have at least one other doggie sibling.

Cinder is a black German Shepherd puppy who is about 6 months old. He is affectionate, playful and likes to play in the wading pool. Cinder is potty trained, loves car rides, walks well on a leash, and knows basic obedience (Sit, down, stay and recall). He is food motivated and eager to learn and will flourish in an environment that will continue his basic training. Cinder is a confident dog and he plays well with other dogs. Cinder can act a little jealous about his person's affection and would do well either in a home by himself or with a resident dog that isn't too pushy. Cinder is learning proper kitty behavior but still needs supervision. Cinder is quiet when in the yard by himself and alarm barks appropriately. If you're looking for an intelligent german shepherd puppy who has the basics of a great dog in the making, Cinder may be the pup for you!

Duchess does well with her foster siblings, male and female German Shepherds. She has been out and about with a pack of German Shepherds and does not mind some rough play with Zoe.

Duchess walks easily on the leash and clearly has not had a lot of exposure to the world yet but is quite willing to explore. She is initially hesitant with other dogs but then quickly warms up to them. Duchess will be a wonderful addition to a quieter type home who will appreciate her sweet presence in their lives.

3.5 months old / female

Ella is a cute black and tan female German Shepherd puppy who is about 14 weeks old. She was not taken off the property by her previous owner so is starting her training and socialization. She is crate-trained and sleeps through the night. She loves her foster dog friends and is good with the cat in her foster home. She LOVES to play fetch and play in water. She is happy and playful but on the shy side and needs a patient owner to take her out and about and give her confidence.

Like all puppies she needs owners who are home enough, and have the time, energy, strength, and patience to guide her through her chewing, digging, and mouthing stages (which can last until they are 2-3 years old), and who will provide regular exercise, socialization and training so she will grow up to be a mannerly adult dog. All puppies bark incessantly, dig, and destroy things if they are left alone for long periods of time, and thus, need to be with owners who do not leave them alone for long hours. He loves getting attention from people, rides great in the car, is kennel trained and is learning manners like how to walk on a leash, sit, and down. He’s also been great when left alone free in the house and yard for 8 hours; no destruction or anxiety.

HennaAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Henna

3 years old / female

Henna is a pretty black and tan female German Shepherd who is about 3 years old. She was rescued by police officers when she was trying to get out of a swiftly moving canal. She was obviously living a hard life before but is blossoming now. She is living with 3 other large dogs in her foster home but has shown that she has a high prey drive so no cats, small dogs, or other small critters for her. She is crate trained, house trained, walks at a heel, and knows sit. If left alone she thinks it is a lot of fun to dig in the soft soil and chew on outdoor carpets; very puppyish behaviors that can be managed through training and patience. She loves people and will sit with her head in your lap for hours. She is looking for her next home where she will feel loved and safe for the rest of her life.

Hildy

18 months old / female

Hildy, an 18 month old female, was surrendered by her owner when they had to go into assisted living. She is a very sweet and submissive girl who likes other dogs, seems workable with cats, walks well on leash, is kennel trained, rides well in the car, and really bonds to her family. She can be shy at first but once she knows she is going to get attention she wants to crawl into your lap. Hildy is a very low key girl who will probably do best in a quiet home as she can be very sensitive to quick movements and loud noises. She doesn't seem to require a ton of exercise and seems content to sit on the couch next to you all day.

Jax is handsome tan and black male German Shepherd who is about 4.5 years old. He was depressed because his mate was hit by a car and killed and he didn't want to leave her side. He's lived his life as an outdoor dog with his mate and is sad and confused about his new life. He walks at a heel, is great in the car and is good in his crate. He is house trained and has excellent manners. He does well with all dogs but does want to chase outdoor cats. He needs patience while he settles in to a new and quiet home and would do best with other respectful dogs to hang out with.

JesseAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Jesse

5 months old / male

Jesse is a handsome male German Shepherd puppy who may have a splash of another breed. He is about 5 months old and about 35 pounds. Jesse has been living with three cats and doing well. Like most dogs he will likely need appropriate structure and management to introduce him to new cats in a different home. Jesse has done well meeting dogs. He is relatively calm for a puppy.

KashmirAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Kashmir

11 months old / female

My name is Kashmir. I was rescued out of a rural Valley shelter where I had very little chance of being adopted. I am almost a year old black & tan girl, whose foster mom tells me I have a beautiful face with a dark mask. I love people, but, because I sometimes get excited and want to jump, respectful kids over 10 are best. I currently live with three male GSD's ranging from 2 years old to 11 years old. I am about 70 pounds, but I am still technically a puppy, so I have some puppy energy. I need exercise and training to become the best family member.

I know sit and down, I am learning wait and here. I sleep quietly throughout the night in a crate. I play fetch and like to play tug with my foster siblings. I am very food motivated so training with me should be fun and easy! I am cuddly and loving. I love to lay down and get belly rubs!!!!

I do get a little car sick, but am getting better with each ride. I do not dig and am not destructive, except for occasionally tearing the stuffing out of little plush toys. When my mom has me off leash I stay close and come when called. When my foster brothers took off after a wild rabbit, I was the only who stopped and came back!! I am going to add a lot of love and fun to my new family’s life.

Video 1

Katana is a sweet, loving female German Shepherd who is about 2.5 years old. She loves people and has previously lived with older children. She has been good with the cats in her fosterer home. She has a blue eye that we've had checked out by an ophthalmologist to make sure it wasn't uncomfortable or problematic for her, either now or in the future. It's neither! And Katana runs like the wind, plays hard, and doesn't show any indication of having just one good eye! Being young, she's still quite playful but is learning some more basic obedience such as waiting at gates and doors and leash manners, which she learns very quickly. When she wants attention, she'll pick up her favorite toy and just sit and look at you until you just have to play with her; she's really quite irresistible!

Leia

3 years old / female

Leia wins the hearts of everyone she meets, including her current foster family. This 3-year-old girl loves nothing more than spending time with her people. It is difficult to describe just how incredibly loving she is. Leia loves cuddling, but is also happy hanging by your side for even the dullest of chores if you give her an occasional pat on the head. Leia is crate-trained, housebroken, heels well on a leash, and knows how to use a dog door. She's learned "sit" and "down," and is working very hard to master "come." Leia will occasionally growl at other dogs if she feels uncomfortable, but she plays well with polite dogs. Leia truly is a sweetheart and deserves a home with lots of love.

Our volunteers stepped in to rescue them immediately but the kitten was too neglected to survive. Letty has rebounded well. She is very social and loves people. She is house-trained and crate-trained and has also been good loose (so far) overnight. She is a little timid meeting new dogs but quickly invites them to play. She seems to be cat tolerant with adequate supervision. Like all young German Shepherds she needs to continue her training. She likes to jump up on people and engage in other puppyish activities. She is smart, praise and treat motivated and loves to learn. Letty rides well in the car and likes to play. Letty will be a fantastic addition to her new family.

Lilo chillin with her foster sibling

Lilo is a sable female German Shepherd puppy who is about 7 months old. She is crate trained and knows how to use the dog door. Lilo is good in the house, loves riding in the car and is content sleeping in her crate but is also good out of the crate at night. Lilo has loved to play with compatible dogs in each of her foster homes. She is sometimes shy meeting new people or rambunctious dogs but warms up quickly. She is very smart, playful and active and is best for experienced German Shepherd Dog or similar owners. Lilo will need another dog(s) as she is happiest with other compatible dogs in the home. She would do best in a low key adult home.

Loki (aka Olaf) is a handsome red sable male German Shepherd who is about a year old and weighs about 70 pounds. He is a happy, puppyish boy who has a mischievous streak.  He was rescued from the shelter and didn't get much training from his prior owner however he has been picking up his basic commands very well after being fostered with a trainer for several weeks.  He didn't even know how to play with balls before but really enjoys chasing them now after being fostered with his trainer.  Loki loves people, both men and women.

Loki walks well on leash, rides well in the car and is crate trained and house trained. He has played with a variety of dogs and is good with playful compatible dogs 30 pounds or larger. Loki has prey drive towards running animals (cats, deer) when he is off leash but is easy to walk around them on leash.   Loki is a loving dog who has moderate energy and loves to go on walks and hikes. Due to his size he would be best for a family with some GSD experience and kids 10 years or older. He is going to be a very handsome addition for some lucky family.

Lucky

5 months old / male

Hi! I'm Lucky, a 5 months old German Shepherd puppy. I weigh about 45 pounds, but you can see by my feet that I still have lots of growing to do. I was just rescued by Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue. I am told that I'm pretty smart since I learned about dog doors in two tries. I also know how to sit and come when my name is called. I like to play with my foster sisters and like to bark at unknown dogs I have never met a cat, so I don't know what I'll do when I see one. I am learning lots in my foster home. I know how to be polite at meal-time, how to play dog games with my foster sisters, and I'm learning to go outside to do my business. I am also learning to walk on a leash and other good dog things. I’ll be neutered and ready to go to my new forever home in a few weeks.

She is currently working on not barking at everything she encounters but it's hard to contain so much excitement in a little body. She is a smart, food motivated, fast and loves to use her nose. Puppies require owners who are home enough, and have the time, energy, strength, and patience to guide the puppy through it's chewing, digging, and mouthing stages and who will provide regular exercise, socialization and training so the puppy will grow up to be a mannerly adult dog. All puppies bark incessantly, dig, and destroy things if they are left alone for long periods of time, and thus, need to be with owners who do not leave them alone for long hours. Priority will be given to families with experience raising German Shepherd Dog or similar puppies.

MistyAdopted

Misty

4 months old / female

Misty is about 16 weeks old, female, sweet, outgoing and ready for a home. She has a strong natural instinct to "search with her nose". If you are looking for a pup to train for scent work, you might want to consider this girl along with her sister, Stormy, as future "scent dogs."

Monroe is a handsome black and tan male German Shepherd who is about 2.5 years old. He is sweet and goofy and does well with people. He is starting his basic training which his prior owner neglected and is smart and willing to please. Monroe walks well on a leash, knows sit, is good in his crate and loves to ride in a car. He has been good around a small poodle in his foster homes. He needs polite introductions with larger dogs but only because he doesn't have much experience in that department. Monroe is doing great with the large dogs in his foster home.

She is very quiet right now but she is also recovering from her shelter stay and we imagine her to be full of life very soon like a normal puppy. Morgan has been great with other dogs she's met and enjoys people.

Video

Prince is a sweet, white male German Shepherd who is about 2 years old. He was picked up as a stray with severe damage to his left back leg and covered with purple wound spray (which is where the idea of naming him Prince came from). It looks as if his legs were tied with a rope and one leg became strangulated and fell off. He is one of our Wish Bones Project Dogs. One would think that Prince would become nervous around people with this history of neglect but that couldn't be farther from the truth. He loves attention, enjoys all the dogs he has met (big and small), he is great in the car, kennel trained, walks well on leash, and seems to be afraid of cats which should make it easy to introduce one. He will be getting the necessary medical attention and should be available soon when he has completely recovered. Prince is an ambassador of his breed and will make his lucky new family very happy.

He knows all his obedience and is trained in German. Due to his bloodlines he needs to go to a German Shepherd Dog or similar experienced home. He is good around other dogs out and about and is crate-trained and house-trained. Rommel loves to ride in the car and is affectionate to people out and about. He is an energetic dog but is not high maintenance. Rommel will only be shown to experienced dog owners due to his breeding.

RoryAdopted
A Second Chance German Shepherd Rescue Dog

Rory

2 years old / female

Rory is a 2 year old female who weighs roughly 50 pounds and was found as a stray. She is a very submissive girl who needs a home where she will learn what it is like to be someone's loved pet. She was most likely someone's "backyard dog" as she doesn't know how to exist inside a home. As of right now, we know she rides well in the car, is good with other dogs (large and small), and also cat tolerant. Rory seems willing to learn but will need a soft hand as she is very timid but so so sweet. She has not wanted to play with other dogs yet but we believe she will have a very polite play style once she becomes more comfortable. Rory has liked everyone she's met and will sit at your feet for attention. She is becoming more comfortable going into a crate and once she is in, she is quiet for hours when her foster mom is at work.

Ruby

5 years old / female

Ruby is a stunning German lines black and red female German Shepherd who is about 5 years old. She gets along with inside cats, well mannered calm dogs, chickens, horses, calm older children and even a parrot! At one time she lived with 5 dogs of various sizes and did well with all of them. Ruby has a very sweet temperament and was loved at her last home, even sleeping on the bed with her humans. She is used to being inside as she was left inside all day when her former owners worked, so she's most comfortable inside with her people (as are most GSDs!). She needs some brush up on her training, but knows to sit, come, stay (sort of), and wait. Ruby rides quietly in cars and sleeps in her crate at night, She is confused where her former owner went and will need a little bit of patience as she adjusts to a new home. She wants to play and get petted but she may be a bit lost as she gets used to another new routine. Ruby LOVES belly rubs and laying in your lap!!!! She has a lot of love left to give to her new family.

Thanks to his fantastic therapist, who also fostered him, he is well on the road to recovery. He walks well on leash, is good around many dogs but likes to chase cats. Rudy loves people and loves to play with his balls and toys. He is crate trained and house trained. Rudy is ready for his new home and will do best with experienced owners.

Video: Sabrina & Kelley

Sabrina is a female mostly black and tan German Shepherd Dog puppy who is about 3 months old. She is playful and loves playing with her sister Kelley and the other GSDs in her foster home. She already knows sit and go to your kennel. Like all puppies, Sabrina likes to chew and sometimes dig a little.

In his foster home, he plays nearly all day with his dominant and bossy female sibling but never goes over the top. He needs a firm hand on the leash but takes corrections well when seeing other dogs. He has a high prey drive towards squirrels and other small animals.

Slider does not like crates but can be trusted to be left alone for a few hours. He sleeps quietly next to his humans. Slider is very good in the car and has made a 4 hours trip to Tahoe without any problems. At Cooperhaus training, he understood sitting, heeling, down-stays in less than 20 mins. Slider will need a patient, experienced home, preferably with a female shepherd sibling, that will expose him to the world and build his confidence. In return, he will give his loyalty, lots of love, and kisses.

Sunny is the sister to Stormy and Misty, all about 16 weeks old. Sunny has larger bone structure than the others and some wavy fur. She's sweet, gentle, and intelligent...like her sisters. We'll post more as we get to know her.

Priority will be given to families with experience raising German Shepherd Dog or similar puppies.

They ride well in the car, are kennel trained, and walk well on leash. They are very happy in nature and confident in new situations. They still are in the goofy stages of adolescence and like all adolescents, will need continued training and guidance to grow up to be mannerly dogs. Due to just starting training they are best in an adult home.

Terra's current foster family loves her very much. She's a 2-year-old female who has captured their hearts with her sweet and loving demeanor, endless desire to please, and her expressive face. Terra is a timid dog and takes a while to warm up to people, so she needs a patient, calm home that will respect her boundaries. Your patience and love will be rewarded with a companion who is happy being your shadow or finding a quiet corner to rest in if you're busy. Terra's foster family is convinced she's a genius based on how quickly she learned "sit" and "down," and she's working very hard to learn "come." She's housebroken and crate-trained and the sweetest dog ever.

Tess is a petite 6 month old female, German shepherd with a splash of something else. She's only 38 pounds and won't be very large, perfect for a jogger or someone who doesn't want a large dog. She's smart, and sweet, and learning her basic obedience.

Tootsie, a 1 year old female, was found as a stray in the central valley with a collar but no one claimed her. She was obviously someone's pet as she is very sweet, playful, submissive, loves attention, enjoys car rides, and is very smart. She also walks well on leash, knows sit, and is both kennel and house trained. Tootsie has been great with the dogs she's met so far but has a special love for the Dachshund in her foster home. He doesn't care much for her but she continues to play bow in front of him for hours. Not sure how she'll do with cats but she showed a chase response when they ran in front of her.

Zeke is a handsome 2 year old male. He has really opened up since coming into our program. Zeke is a warm, lovely old soul who wants to know the rules and what’s expected. He will probably not warm up right away, but once he does, he bonds completely. He likes to play ball and go for walks, but is then ready for a nice nap and some just hanging-out time. He lives with two GSDs and gets along and plays well with both. He would probably be ok with cats, although he has not lived with one. Zeke's a big boy and is still learning to play gently with his people, though he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He needs stability and patience and a loving home to thrive in.
